Dear Customer

We wish to bring to your attention to the recent changes in the import requirements as per the Kenya Bureau of standards(KEBS)/Government of Kenya.

Prior 1st October 2018, importers could process Certificates of Conformity either at the country of origin or upon cargo arrival in Kenya. This has since changed and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) published a notice advising the general public and importers that all imported goods destined to Kenya shall be required to undergo mandatory inspection in the country of origin or supply prior to shipment into the country. The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) appointed agents shall inspect goods and issue Certificates of Conformity (CoC) / Certificate of Roadworthiness (CoR) to goods/motor vehicles that conform to the relevant standards or approved specifications.

Goods loaded on or after 1st October 2018 will be expected to fully comply with the provisions of the Legal Notice 127, details of which are available on www.kebs.org. The detailed criteria for exemption has also been provided in the same Legal Notice.

Thanks in advance for your best attention to this matter

Regards
